Filming Rhinos In Uganda

Rhino Filming in Uganda can be done in two places namely:

  • Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
  • Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC)

The ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is undoubtedly the best Place to film Rhinos in Uganda – located approximately 208km/129 miles from Entebbe (180 kilometres/110 miles from Kampala) – a journey that lasts approximately 3½-hours by road. It was established in 2005 to reintroduce the southern white rhinoceros to Uganda. The long-term goal of the sanctuary is to “build a sustainable rhinoceros population and relocate rhinos back to their original habitat in Uganda’s protected areas”. In Uganda, you can see Rhinos in the wild only at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

Filming Rhinos at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary requires you to obtain media card and location card if you are a foreign filmmaker. However, if your are a journalist or a filmmaker in Uganda, you just need to pay entry fees and filming fees to the authority taking care of Ziwa Rhino sanctuary.
