Batwa cultural filming

Batwa cultural filming can be done in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Lake Mutanda, Lake Bunyonyi, Ichuya forest, Kisoro and Kabale. Batwa cultural encounters and experience is one of the best after Gorilla trekking.

The Batwa pygmies are an indigenous group of people that are found in south western Uganda. They were the original inhabitants of Bwindi impenetrable  impenetrable  and Mgahinga forests. The Batwa are nicknamed “the Keepers of the forest”. The Batwa pygmies survived on hunting, fruit gathering, steams and medicinal herbs  from the forest. In 1991, was a dark year for the Batwa pygmies after eviction from the forest to gazette Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

When the forest was turned into a national park they had to move and settle in the nearby places. These people still keep their way of lifestyle and indigenous culture.  When visited, they showcase their former way of life through singing and dancing. They tell stories of how they survives and their daily activities.
