Filming in Kibale National Park

Kibale National Park is among the filming destinations in Uganda. It’s situated in western Uganda, established in 1993, and managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), encompasses 795 square kilometers of primarily moist evergreen and semi-deciduous. Kibale National park is a haven of primates, birds, wildlife species, spectacular vegetation, culture, Ndali -Kasenda crater, Butter fly species and so on.

Primate filming in Kibale National park- Its a prominent habitat for primates like chimpanzees, blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheecked mangabey, red tailed monkeys, Ugandan red colobus monkey, central African monkey, L’Hoest’s Monkey among others. For that case, Kibale National Park is a must visit by filmmakers. Among all the primates, chimpanzees have the largest population with 1450 chimpanzee individuals.

Bird filming in Kibale National Park – Over 375 bird species found in Kibale National Park. Film makers should visit the park to take photos of the amazing birds found here. Kibale National Park is one of the Important Birding Site (IBS). Kibale forest harbors migrant and forest species. Filmmakers should target African Grey Parrot, olive long-tailed cuckoo, blue breasted Kingfisher, yellow- rumped, Tinkerbird, brown, crested alether among others.

Nature walks to encounter encounter different attractions in close range. Expect to film forest elephants, duikers, bushbucks, primates like black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkey, grey checked Mangabey, black and white Colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, red tailed monkey and so on. The film crew fixer is responsible for capturing pictures in motion.

Nocturnal filming – Its an interesting activity in the park where you will be able to explore the park at night. Spot light torches are used to see a variety of nocturnal animals like bush babies, pottos, galagos, tree Hyrax, cricket, nightjar among others. Birds like owls to mention but a few. The filming crew must be guided by the experienced ranger guides/ park rangers.
