Consider weather and climate in Uganda – the dry seasons in Uganda from June to August and December to February, are considered the most favorable times for travel and filming due to the dry conditions, making it easier to navigate roads and trails. Filming can also be done in wet season but you can be inconvenienced by rain.

Location filming permit – the filming crew must seek permission from local authorities governing areas targeted for filming. Filming in Uganda National Park and other gazetted areas managed by Uganda Wildlife Authority, filming permission is given by UWA.
Press accreditation – all foreign filmmakers must be accredited by Uganda media council (UMC).
Requirements for accreditation:
*Applicants must fill out in full Media Council of Uganda Form G.
*Attach a Clearance letter/Certificate of good conduct from Interpol in the applicant’s country of origin (for applicants in countries without an active Interpol office a certificate from the National Police and a cover letter from the applicant’s embassy in *Uganda vouching for the applicant and explaining the difficulty of obtaining Interpol Certificate);
*Attach a letter of introduction of the journalist/media worker from the employer;
*Attach a copy of identity card issued by employer;
*National Identity Card (where available).
*Copy of Passport with validity for the term of accreditation applied for (must avail copy of page showing visa);
*Two-color passport-size photographs;
*Pay accreditation fees.
*Visa-Work Permit (Apply for it online on the Ugandan Department of Immigration website). Please, note that no accreditation will be processed if the work permit does not clearly indicate that the applicant is coming to Uganda to do media work.
Accommodation reservation – based on where to film, the filming crew must work together with the film fixers to book accommodation in advance. Based on the filming crew’s choice, they can decide to book in luxury, mid-range or budget accommodation.
Security – as a country, Uganda is among the peaceful nations in Africa and the country at larges however, its wise to hire private security to safeguard clients’ filming equipment.
