
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – covers and area of 321 square kilo meters between 1160m and 2607m above the sea level. BINP was ranked to the National park status in 1991 and declared a UNESCO heritage site in 1994. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the most primate destination in Uganda. Bwindi forest is famously known for hosting the largest number of mountain gorillas in the world. If you are planning gorilla filming in Uganda, Bwindi should be your first priority.
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park – Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is the second priority for gorilla film makers. The park is situated in far south western Uganda at the boarder of Uganda- Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Mgahinga Gorilla National Park sits high in the clouds, at an altitude of between 2,227m and 4,127m. As its name suggests, it was created to protect the rare mountain gorillas that inhabit its dense forests, and it is also an important habitat for the endangered golden monkey.
Budongo Forest – Chimpanzee trekking in Budongo forest is one of the most interesting activities in Uganda. Budongo is home to a pristine forest reserve and boasts an abundance of flora species, most notably the impressive giant mahogany trees, some of which reach more than 80 metres high. Those opting to visit Budongo can expect to see many primate species such as chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, and the olive baboon.
Kalinzu Forest – Its situated in Bushenyi district in Western Uganda. The forest is well known for protecting 414 species of tree and shrubs for example the stroboia, parirari ficus, prunus and Africana among others . Bird species in Kalinzu forest include 378 species like cuckoos, sunbirds, the great blue Turaco , black and white caskets. The forest host about six species of primates including black and white colobus monkeys, vevet monkeys and the chimpanzees. other species include reptiles, flowers, 262 butterflies and 96 moths. Kalinzu forest reserve occasionally provides refuge of savannah grassland because of its proximity to the Queen Elizabeth National Park species like the Duikers , leopards and wild pigs.
Kibale National Park – Its one of the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee tracking tours and posses the highest number and diversity of primates in East Africa. There are 13 species of primates including chimpanzees living within its 795km2 land cover with the most beautiful and most diversified tracts of tropical forest in the entire Uganda. At the park’s northern tip, Kibale is highest and stands 1590m above sea level.
Kyambura Gorge – Its part of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Eastern part of the park this is drain by river kyambura it was formed by the disorderly water s of river kyambura it’s about 100 metres deep the site of the land space is so breath taking and one of the best u can find in the world.
Toro- Semuliki National Park – established as a game reserve in 1926 and was among the first protected areas to be gazetted. The main reason was to protect the large numbers of Uganda Kobs in the area. It covers an area of 542 km2. It is located in western Uganda, within Ntoroko and Kabarole districts.
