Gorilla Filming in Uganda is done in two parks namely; Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is situated in western Uganda covering an area of extends for an area of 331 square kilo metres. Bwindi is famous for hosting majority of the mountain Gorillas in the world. The park mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rain forests, which dates back over 25,000 years and contains almost 400 species of plants. More famously, this “impenetrable forest” also protects an estimated 459 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population, including several habituated groups, which can be tracked.
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is situated far south western Uganda at the boarder of Rwanda – Uganda – Democratic Republic of Congo. Mgnp covers 33.7 Square Kilometers hence the smallest park in Uganda. The park takes its name from “Gahinga” – the local word for the piles of volcanic stones cleared from farmland at the foot of the volcanoes.
