Filming In Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park is the largest National Park in Uganda at the size of 3,893 km2. Murchison Falls National Park is comprised of woodland, wetland, savannah as well as tropical forests that are well known to be a habitat for over 76 mammal species and over 450 different bird species. Among the big mammals in the park include the hippo, Rothschild’s giraffe, warthog, cape buffalo, Uganda kob, hartebeest and elephants.

Best areas for Filming in Murchison Falls National Park include: Paraa, Budongo Forest, Kaniyo Pabidi Forest and The Karma water falls among others. Each location is endowed with a variety of attractions including chimpanzees, birds, wild animals, vegetation, water bodies and water mammals among others.

Murchison Falls National park is among the top attractions in Uganda and best suitable for filming. However, filmmakers must obtain media accreditation and location card or filming contract. All Foreign Film Makers or journalists must apply for Media cards from Uganda Media Council to be authorized to Film in Uganda.

Media cards are applied in advance and pay before coming in Uganda. More so, you need to sign filming contract with Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) to be authorized to film in Murchison Falls National Park.

Best time to Film in Murchison Falls National Park:

Filming can be done throughout the year in Murchison Falls National Park however, dry season is the best of June to August and December to February. The driest months are January and February but the wet season offers the best scenery.
