Mgahinga Gorilla National park is the only place for official golden Monkey trekking. Golden monkey trekking takes place daily and the activity takes place after briefing at 7:30am and the actual trek starts at 8am.

Unlike Gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking is less strenuous and easy to meet because they spend most of their time in lowland areas with plenty of pastures. One habituated golden monkey group in Mgahinga gorilla national park is open to visitors every day. Trekking the golden monkeys takes about 4-5 hours.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is among the few parks offering stunning golden monkey trekking. Other parks in Virunga region with golden monkey trekking include Virunga National Park in Democratic Republic of Congo and Volcanoes National Park in  Rwanda.

You can book your spot at the Uganda wildlife Authority head office in Kampala or at the park thus no worries for advance booking.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park also offers golden Monkey  habituation. Golden Monkey habituation takes a duration of about 4hrs compared to normal golden monkey trekking which is only 1hr. Upon tracking the primates, you enjoy an exclusive experience with the Golden monkeys as they do their daily activities.
